James Blake, baker, born in Farnham, Surrey, England; attested for the Military Train at Aldershot 02Sep1868; served with Military Train and Army Service Corps in South Africa, Feb-Oct1879, Egypt, Aug1882-Mar1883 and Jul1886-Oct1890; awarded the South Africa Medal with 1879 clasp; Egypt Medal 1882 with Gemaizah 1888 clasp and Khedive's Star; Mentioned in Despatches for his services in Suakin 1888-89; Staff Sergeant-Major Blake retired 12Apr1892.
