Dermatology.- Willan (Robert) On Cutaneous Diseases, 4 parts, title to first part only, 34 stipple-engraved plates printed in colours and finished by hand, with the 2pp. list of contents and Directions to Binder leaf which are often missing, foxing, mainly to title and plates but heavy to 3G signature in part 4, rather soiled and stained, small tears to 3M4 but no loss, ex-library copy with contemporary ink inscription to head of title/first leaf & endpapers and with stamp to plates, contemporary sheep-backed boards, worn, joints split, some covers detached, preserved in modern cloth drop-back box, red morocco label, [G & M 3985 & 4018; Norman 2241; Wellcome IV, 437], 4to, J.Johnson, 1808. ⁂ The first dermatalogical work to be illustrated with coloured plates. "Willan established the classification and nomenclature of skin diseases that is still more or less in use today...A novel feature of his work was his systematic use of illustrations to supplement disease description, an idea entirely new to dermatology at the time."
