CILICIA. Tarsos. Mazaios, satrap of Cilicia, 361/0-334 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 10.81 g, 4 h). 𐡁𐡏𐡋𐡕𐡓𐡆 ('b'ltrs' in Aramaic) Baaltars seated left on backless throne, his body turned to front, holding an eagle, a grain ear and a vine branch with a bunch of grapes in his right hand, and long scepter in his left; to lower left, 𐡑𐡍 ('ns'); below throne, 𐡌 ('m'). Rev. 𐡌𐡆𐡓𐡂 ('mzdy' in Aramaic) Lion attacking bull to left; below, monogram or symbol. Casabonne Series 2, Group C. SNG Levante 106. SNG Paris -. A sharp and attractive piece. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good extremely fine.
