Edwardian Somerset Light Infantry Lieutenant Colonels Full Dress Tunic, fine scarlet cloth tunic with black stand up collar having rose pattern gilt lace and bullion embroidered regimental collar badges. Black cuffs with gilt bullion lace / wire decoration. Knotted shoulder boards having bullion rank insignia. Gilt metal regimental tunic buttons to the front, shoulders and rear. Quilted lining to the interior of the tunic. Original tailors label to the collar with inked name “Capt J S N Harrison”. Remains in good condition. Lieutenant Colonel John Sandbach Noel Harrison DSO, was born on 9th November 1877. He was commissioned into the Somerset Light Infantry in 1898. Promoted to Major in 1915. He was awarded a Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O) whilst attached to the Loyal North Lancashire regiment for services rendered in connection with Military Operations in Mesopotamia, award appearing in the London Gazette 7th February 1918. He was also Mentioned in Despatches during WW1. He was the commanding officer of the 1st Battalion Somerset Light Infantry from 1924-28 and retired from the Army in 1929. He died 5th December 1949.
