KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 16.88 g, 1 h), uncertain mint in western Asia Minor, circa 323-280 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, cult statue set on base. Price 2720. Boldly struck and of exceptionally fine style. Somewhat porous and rough and with a minor die break on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
