A GEORGE II CARVED GILT GESSO MIRRORCIRCA 1730-40109cm high, 66cm wideCondition Report: Mirror with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. The bevelled mirror plate has depletion and grey spots but is a later replacement. There are two 'flat' areas to each of the lower corners. This is possibly where roundels or carved flowerheads once sat. Gilding appears to have been 'refreshed' at some point. Shrinkage cracks along some of the underlying join lines. Old repair to the top of the cresting - see image. The gilt surface with the expected wear and chips. Vacant reserves to the lower edge of the frame where candle arms once sat.
