This English deck watch by Victor Kullberg dates to the period between 1880 and 1900. The fine, gilded movement is fitted with a heavy compensation balance with gold weights, a pointed tooth escapement, a Breguet spring and precision regulator. The white enamel dial shows a Chemin-de-Fer chapter ring, black Roman numerals and two dials for the approximately 36-hour power reserve and small second. The watch case is gilded, can be screwed open and has a glass bottom. A very fine piece with the original wind-up key! The dial and movement are signed "Victor Kullberg" and numbered 2022. The movement also shows awards from the 1860s and 1870s. The watch case measures 55 mm in diameter. The watch proved to be fully functional during a short-time test; no guarantee on accuracy. The watch is in good condition with only light traces of age and wear, such as hairline scratches and partial loss of the gilding. The original wind-up key and wooden box are included. The wooden box shows age-related scratches. Victor Kullberg The Swedish watchmaker Victor Kullberg learned his craft in his birthplace of Visby on Gotland and expanded his expertise under Louis Urban Jürgensen in Copenhagen. In 1856 he started his own watchmaking business in London. In 1874 Kullberg was appointed Watchmaker to the Court of the King of Sweden and Norway. Victor Kullberg's watches are characterised by sophisticated designs and skilled workmanship.
