Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker , 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 The identity of this portrait bust has not been conclusively established, though it closely resembles a portrait of a lady wearing a négligé titled 'Lilo' that Scheurich painted in 1930 that probably depicts the Berlin actress and diseuse, Liselott (Lilo) Wilke (Rafael 1995a, ill. 41.1). When Scheurich sent the model to Max Adolf Pfeiffer in April 1930 he requested only RM 750; he wrote '...because I know how difficult items of this type are to sell.' The bust was produced in Böttger stoneware from February 1931, though it met with limited success: the first sale is recorded in 1937 and by 1944 ten examples including one white were in the trade.
