We begin every appraisal process with a preliminary evaluation conducted in person or via photographs to determine the scope of the property or collection. Appraisals are based on an examination to determine the condition, description and measurements. After the preliminary examination, the property is researched to identify and verify marks and signatures, dates, comparable sales analysis and if necessary, consultation with other subject matter experts within our network.
Fees for appraisals are based on the time required to evaluate the property and include research time, documentation, travel and report writing. Should the property be consigned to our auctions, all fees may be refunded in lieu of our hammer-price commission percentage.
