A charming A.L.S., Krusenstern, two pages, folio, Saint Petersburg, 20th March 1841, to [Auguste Jal], in French. Krusenstern writes that, at the moment he takes his pen to respond to his correspondent's letter, he fears that he will be accused of extreme negligence in not having replied sooner, but explains that he can justify the delay as he has been on a two month trip overseas, further adding that his correspondent's beautiful work has been appreciated by the Academy of Science, and also referring to a report that he has the pleasure of sending, remarking 'By going through the report yourself, you will see that here, as elsewhere, we have been able to do justice to your merit'. With blank integral leaf. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG Auguste Jal (1795-1873) French author who wrote on maritime archaeology and history.
