An Exceptional Mid-19th Century Wetplate Outfit, By Murray & Heath,English, c.1860, the camera along with many accessories signed Murray & Heath, 43 Piccadilly, London, this exceptional outfit complete with almost all of the original kit for producing the wet plate emulsion and developing the exposed plates, the camera is a stereo sliding box form with screw focusing to the rear, with a ground glass screen, a single wet plate dark slide, with interchangeable lens boards between a stereo pair of lenses and a single lens (single lens missing), the stereo lenses are simple landscape lenses engraved Ross London 12192 and 12193, the set with many glass bottles for the developing and emulsion chemicals, most with Murray & Heath labels, with two polished pine cases of blank glass plates each case stamped Murray & Heath, a polished mahogany developing tank with glass liner, with a label for Murray & Heath, and other equipment in a large black lacquered travel trunk. The firm of Murray & Heath was established in 1855 by Robert Murray & Vernon Heath, the shop was located at 43 Piccadilly until the firm moved in 1866 to 69 Jermyn Street, London.
